Our Story & Play Philosophy
Educational Toys Chosen for How Indian Children Learn & Play
MiKhelu was born out of a simple observation shared by thousands of Indian parents: toy cupboards are full of plastic gadgets that children play with for fifteen minutes and never touch again.
We believe that every child plays differently. Long before a child cares about age categories, parents know whether they have a passionate builder, an inquisitive scientist, a fearless explorer, or an imaginative storyteller. MiKhelu was created to match the right developmental toy to the child you actually have.
What is MiKhelu?
MiKhelu is India’s premier educational toy discovery and curation platform. We evaluate toys through a 4-point pediatric and developmental matrix, ensure full BIS IS 9873 child safety compliance, and categorize products across 10 distinct play personalities and 5 developmental age bands (0 to 13+ years). Our goal is to promote mindful, screen-free, high-replay play for Indian families and schools.
E-E-A-T Quality & Safety Protocol
Our 4-Point Toy Curation & Testing Standards
Before any toy is catalogued on MiKhelu, it must pass our multi-layered screening framework for child safety, material integrity, and pedagogical value.
1. BIS IS 9873 Safety & Non-Toxic Verification
Child safety is paramount. Every product catalogued on MiKhelu is verified to meet Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS IS 9873 Parts 1, 2, and 3) requirements. We ensure products use non-toxic, lead-free paints, food-grade finishes, BPA-free plastics, splinter-free natural wood, and strict choking-hazard screening for items under 36 months.
2. Developmental & Pedagogical Alignment
We screen toys against established developmental milestones inspired by Montessori, Waldorf, and STEM frameworks. Rather than passive electronic noise-makers, our toys focus on fine and gross motor dexterity, spatial visualization, cognitive problem-solving, and emotional self-expression.
3. The 10 Play Personalities System
Children are not identical. A child who spends two hours constructing towers has completely different neurological needs than one who thrives through expressive role-play. By tagging every toy with up to three play traits, we eliminate the guesswork and ensure toys are loved rather than abandoned.
4. Long-Term Replay Value & Durability
We champion open-ended toys that evolve as your child grows. From modular wooden blocks to adaptable science kits, our curated toys are designed to survive energetic daily play and stay meaningful across multiple developmental stages.
